Outsider here, but what does http://ubuntustudio.org/ offer?
I have two problems:

 1) Video Capture and digitization
 2) Non-linear video editing and mixing

My main issue with both Pitivi and Kino are that they are extremely limited for doing non-linear video editing. Cinelerra is supposed to do capture, but nobody on the interwebs seems to know how to get it working.

I also have a dual 2Ghz G5 Mac in the office, so it might eventually come down to a combination of Canopus + iMovie. I'm just really bummed that Linux Video editing is in such a poor state. Especially considering the cool consumer-friendly Iomega-Buzz solution I used to have in the late 90's which cost me SGD350 for a capture solution + windows-only video editing software.

Cheers
Stephan
