If your computer has USB it may be preferable to use USB. With USB you
can use a 5 meter USB extension cord, so you can put the antenna away
from the computer and put it in a place for optimal reception.

The extra plus is that you can take the cord and the USB wireless card
along if you are traveling and have bad WIFI reception on your laptop
in your hotel room.

I tested a few of the USB wifi cards that have free drivers. My best
result was with ASUS WL-167g which has free drivers (it also happens
to quite reasonably priced).
