Good day Everyone, During OSSPAC 16 - 18 Feb 2009, I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Steven Shiau. Steven Shiau is a researcher and the manager of the Grid Technology Division at the National Centre for High-Performance Computing in Taiwan. He is also project leader for the Clonezilla (http://clonezilla.org/) and DRBL (http://drbl.sourceforge.net/) projects.
Mr. Steven Shiau is now seeking collaborators and participants for a new project aimed at bridging the digital divide using free and open source software (FOSS). (See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_divide for more information.) His goal is to leverage Clonezilla and DRBL to help educators create a computer environment running FOSS on an existing installed base of networked PCs. By utilizing a server running the Clonezilla and DRBL software, educators can provide a computer lab with the ability to run the latest GNU/Linux distributions and other FOSS software without disturbing the software installed on the hard disks of the client PCs. In this way, schools and other institutions can get maximum value from their existing hardware and avoid the costly upgrade cycle imposed by proprietary software. Anyone interested in helping with this project should contact Steven Shiau directly at steven _at_ nchc org tw. Kindest regards, C David Rigby _______________________________________________ Slugnet mailing list [email protected] http://wiki.lugs.org.sg/LugsMailingListFaq http://www.lugs.org.sg/mailman/listinfo/slugnet
