To me, getting a smartphone is a con, not a pro...};-)

I prefer my phones simple and cheap (although the recently announced
Palm Pre may activate my 'gadget lust'). I'm more on the lookout for
a non-smartphone solution to enable mobile network connectivity for
linux and a 3G-to-WiFi bridging device is one option.

Plus, the Verizone MiFi sets up a true infrastructure WiFi network,
with all the security do-das as this review by JKontheRun reveals
