I've been travelling the entire last few months, and was surprised to see Linux having a really big footprint in the South Asian market. I saw a number of pamphlets with lines like: "Linux Ubuntu 8.10" And those were not ads for some local brand or patched-up systems, but rather that of Dell. I think vendors themselves actually advise distributors on this, because Linux would be most needed in developing countries where piracy is rampant. In a country like ours, where more people can and will buy original, it doesn't make sense to them to offer Linux as part of a product, since they don't know what Free Software means other than "free". -- GPG/PGP ID: B42DDCAD _______________________________________________ LUGS Mailing list - [email protected] List FAQ: http://wiki.lugs.org.sg/LugsMailingListFaq Info page: http://www.lugs.org.sg/mailman/listinfo/slugnet To unsubscribe send an empty email to: [email protected]
