Title: Message
Sorry for the griping, I have just spent 2 1/2 weeks on this install and it is a bank client with 6 branches that I also handle the WAN for and I am looking like someone that doesn't know what he is doing.  I just find it coincidental that what I experienced with one random order many other people are seeing with numerous ABO's from their orders.....What if I were a first time customer that was trying out the ABO???  I have made plenty of mistakes that I will say are mistakes of my own when I make them, but having installed exclusively Smartbridges for the last 7 months I know them pretty well.  So (phantam) a little venting and I am better now.....

The fourth one could be a bad crimp connector on the cable from the APPo

For the fourth unit. I just unplugged the wire from the unit and connected a good AP. That worked. So it is not a problem with the power injector. I'll try your advise and let you know.

At least you are a good sport :-) I was expecting a scolding for poking fun at you LOL

The second unit sounds like a RMA unit that was sent back out after no problems were found. My guess is that simpleDeploy was used to change the factory defaults to something else. Try using simpleDeploy to recover it.

They have the problem with the third unit, you can no longer upload the wrong firmware anymore

The fourth one could be anyone of the RJ45 connections or the powerShot. Please tell me more about the exact setup and wire runs.

Tom, sorry for misunderstanding.
On the first one, the antenna fell after I screwed it to the unit, the connector itself was not assembled right at the factory.
Second one could not be found, either wirelessly or over the ethernet. Even after factory default reset.
The third one should not have allowed me to install the wrong firmware.
The fourthone. well, the ethernet port died after 20 minutes. I plugged another one at the wire and the wire is good. The ethernet light on the AP did not go on, neither the light on the ethernet switch.

I hope you understand my frustrations now. I am an unexperienced and new guy in regards to Smartbridges, but how come several other AP worked fine?

So I dont get misunderstood, I like smartBridges products a lot. But aside from the fact that I downloaded the wrong firmware (It should not let me to) what did I do wrong? I like sB's products a lot, but they feel 99% finished. Am I wrong?

The third one that let you upload AB firmware to it, all you need to do is factory default it, then use the AB simplemonitor (not AP) and up load the AP (not AB) firmware to it. This was a problem on older units as well as older simpleMonitor software. You may need to use an old version of simpleMonitor for AB to let you put it back right.

If I understand you right, you dropped the first one, you don't understand the second one, and you made a 6 month old mistake on the third one, and the fourth one has a bad signal and all of this is smartBridges fault?!

OK, I AM making fun of you :-) I am not really trying to put you down. I feel your frustrations, but without a firm grasp on what went wrong with each one, how can you put the full blame on SB?

Same problem here. Ihave 4 bad AP's on my desk to send back + one I already sent. These were consecutive bad units that have failed for different reasons: On the first one the antenna fell, on the second... well it could not be found, the third - it allowe us ti accidentally upload aitbridge firmware and allow us acces after that, but we could not put the right firmware back. The 4th one. Well it worked fine for like 20 minutes than the Ethernet port died. I feel so bad going back to my costumer since these all replace the same AP. The guy tells me: "see you tommorrow" everytime I leave... It's embarassing...
I wish SB would do something about this manufacturer...

Problem is the excessively high failure rate of the ABs....we ordered two and one had the guts rolling around like a brick inside the case and the other died as soon as we flashed it to the older code to allow PPPoE.  The first few we bought were great...this last batch from the new factory not so great.

We've elected to switch to all APs and hope the quality stays consistant on them.

You got a bad radio and you default to "stop making them if you don't want to" umm I believe they would if that was the case J I have a lot of ABO's in play in fact a few I was going to rma like I said, don't discount them all because u have a bad experience, this forum can be really bad because of this after a whiole you get so used to seeing bad things (Cause it's a SUPPORT forum) that you think there all falling apart. ;) One thing I think the RMA's should do is tell us whether the original unit had a problem or not. As a note the reason I bitch about the airpoints etc is because even the circuit boards on the indoors and outdoors are the same, except the outdoors get a nice outdoor case and a different pig. It's the same with airbridge so I don't see if the airbridge can have same firmware as airbridge outdoor why in gods name are they making the airpoints different.

Well, I had posted an email that stated that I hadn't had any problems - until I ordered a ABO last week.  It came in and I installed it and it has never worked.  I guess I know what I'm doing; I have been installing Smartbridges products for about 7 months without any issues.  I decided to flash down to 1.43 and then I was going to flash back up to 1.50 and the ethernet port is down and won't come back up.  I can reset it and it blinks on and then drops off.  I can reset it to default settings with the POE and same thing.  I guess it is dead.  I am sending it back to EC and ordering a APPO.  I can't understand why the ABO's are crap all of a sudden and the APPO's are still working.  If Smartbridges wants to stop making the ABO, just stop - don't start making a crappy product.
