Alex this is a MAJOR fault, im sorry to say the neglecting of adding an antenna (MCMX or RTNC) is a big disadvantage, also only other thing is that it requires software unlike the orinioco cards so its more of a task (for xp users cause that's what I deal with) to just plug and go. But the antenna connector not being there has stopped us from being able to use them in our cars L we had to switch back to orinoco's to use our car antennas.

I was more interested in the real world receive capabilities than the output power. I have found considerable differences in various radios abilities to actually pass data under less than ideal conditions. The Orinoco cards seems to be able the pass data when other cards drop out. I have found the Smartbridges older airbridge to receive even better than the Orinoco card so I was hoping that the AirCarte would also perform well. Is there any chance of getting AirCarte cards with an external antenna jack in the future? We have a number of mobile users who plug in external antennas when the internal antenna is not sufficient.

Our airCarte provide 60mW output power. In outdoor  open space use, it can goes upto 200m for 11Mbps or 300m at 1Mbps which provide sufficient signal strength.

Let me know how they compare.  No external antenna connector is a big disadvantage for quite a few of our users though.

Ironic, I am just installing mine in my other laptop and comparing them.  I have a WAP 11 for my AP on my LAN.

No, it does not have the external antenna connector.

How does the AirCard compare to the Orinoco cards in performance?

Does the AirCard have an external antenna connector?

Thank you
