I upgraded the firmware on the ABTotal and now I can't get anything
through the Ethernet...i wasn't getting anything after about 20 minutes
on the first installation and so I just left it powered off thinking
that it was the firmware issue. Now that I've got the new firmware, I
wasn't able to upgrade it from the customer's computer through the
Ethernet port...took it down and brought it back to our shop and for a
while nothing....and then all of a sudden I was able to view it through
simplemonitor and so I upgraded the firmware....two hours later, still
not associating with our APPO, and can't even ping it through the
Ethernet port. Should I just RMA the sucker...the customer has already
paid for the installation and first month service...they asked about a
refund and I told them that if I can't get them online in a week, I will
refund them their money...

Subject: [smartBridges] AB's and 0.01.07 FW

The last firmware upgrade (0.01.06) did not allow me to associate with
my aPPo once upgraded. That appears to be fixed.

I upgraded the same bad unit (here in my lab) and it associated right up
and has been up ever since.

I have 4 total clients being affected by this problem (losing
association) and I just wirelessly upgraded 3 of them. I know...I
know...I was supposed to have them unplugged for a while and then do
this on the wired side.

But hey...the whole point to having a wireless ISP is the ability to
"wirelessly" manage it. So...I figured, what the heck. If it works, it
saves me a rollout....if it don't, I will just have to downgrade it and
roll out there.

But...it is working for now. With the wireless FW upgrade, the units
appeared to lose association for about 2 seconds and came right back
online.

I will keep everyone posted on their status over the next few days.

BTW...these units were going down (and staying down) about once every 36
hours. It would take a power downtime of 10 minutes to get them back
online.
