Will setting the ap's frag lower like 1024 cause a hit in performance because of more packets? I know it theoretically should improve stability but what about throughput also what is the hit/advantage/disadvantage of setting RTS to 0?

Correct. RTS would be available on the AP for when it's acting as a CPE.
Fragmentation can be set at the CPE or the AP or both. It depends
on which direction the larger packets are coming from. If it's
the customer's downloading a lot, set it on the AP to break up the
packets. If it's uploads, set it at the CPE to break them up there.
