(For anyone that cares.. I changed my email addy slightly, but it's still the same 'ole me. Needed it to go to an addy that would let me use a web client to flag "all" messages for action [deletion]).
I love all of you, and you're my bestest, dearestest friends ...but can we all agree to some basic 'netiquette here? There are a lot of posts to this list and those of us using dialup (no comments from the peanut gallery, pls) get killed by some of the excesses of this wonderful medium. So here are a few rules that would be in place if I were the Sheriff of the sB List (and I know I'm not. Just wishful thinking): -Send URLs instead of sending images -If an image must be sent, can we optimize or shrink it? One 300k email to 300(??) subscribers is ..well ..unpleasant on Michael's servers. -When replying, trim unecessary text (footers, mile-long threads, etc, etc) -Personally I couldn't care less for HTML email, but it does have its uses. Set your email client to send plain-text to this addy, overriding it only if necessary. -Don't reply to an email and include the same image that was sent the first time -Keep off-topic discussions to a minimum (Yes, strict rules can kill a list [seen that happen quite a few times], and yes, OT stuff does make a list more friendly, and yes, personally, I rather liked the recent discussions on bw control, but ... this is a sB list) -When going off-topic, put "OT:" in the subject line -Resist the urge to reply to an email just to say "me too!" unless the original poster is specifically asking to get an idea of how many people are doing a certain thing -And last, but not least, don't post stupid, long-winded emails telling everyone how they need to K.I.S.S. in their emails as if we didn't already know how to behave on a list!!! (for those of you who are still asleep... that last one's kind of a joke) Tim Foster Aledo BroadBand www.AledoBroadBand.com Aledo's only high-speed ISP The PART-15.ORG smartBridges Discussion List To Join: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] (in the body type subscribe smartBridges <yournickname> To Remove: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] (in the body type unsubscribe smartBridges) Archives: http://archives.part-15.org
