Thanks Eje, your just reinforcing the sentiments that allot of us are
having. Yesterday I spent most of the day replacing yet another SB install,
this one even had all the possible points grounded and LPDs out the wazoo.
It just died. Lucky, she is in a cell we are rolling out a Alvarion BA (it
may be the older BA series, but its light-years better than these airbirdges
IMHO) cell to replace 802.11b, so I just used the visit to convert her
setup. If i have to RMA yet another smartbridge, im gona scream.

Yeah they just a few days ago notify their distributors.. They
[smartBridges] will not even honor the orders that been placed since
BEFORE this announcement was made. Here I site with a PO from a
customer wanting a couple of airPoint Pro indoors and I have one and
have had 2 more on order for a month and a half. Earlier this week the
"BOMB" came and sB had simply removed the aPPi from the distributors
order. All I can say is thanks sB you have yet another timed screwed a
WISP over this time it was not due to faulty firmware, faulty hardware
or poorly designed bridge mode but discontinued a product with no
notice. Keep up this attitude and WISPs will start to drop you like
flies I know I'm ready to do so. Because I can not rely on ANYTHING sB
is doing.

Ok I think I feel a little better now...

DC> Dave,

DC> To my knowledge I don't think anybody has tried the type of setup you
are
DC> describing. It kinds of sounds exotic. Most people would do either one
aP or
DC> 2 aP setup as Billy is describing.

DC> Regardless, just a few days ago we have decided to discontinue the

DC> Another model being discontinued is airNIC (sB2000). The decision has

DC> Sounds like you have tried this? (two antennas) Has anyone tried it
and
DC> have any experience to share?

DC> The smartBridges site says 'airPoint-PROT automatically selects the
best

OR
DC> use two aPPO units...

DC> Or if you simply have to use a single aPPI, use the a single
antenna.

DC> Thanks, Billy

DC> I need to make a POE-powered sB repeater box to 'light up' an
area.
DC> Since the speedTrap-2 isn't out yet (want a beta tester? <g>) I need to
make
DC> one. What I envision is an aPPi running repeater mode in a NEMA box.
Each

DC> N-type connector. To one connector I attach an 18dBi panel pointed back
to
DC> the tower and to the other connector I attach a 6-9dBi omni
cross-polarized
DC> to the big panel. Customers within a couple-hundred feet use an aBi thru
DC> walls to talk to the omni. Clients a little further away use aBOs with
DC> little panels pointed at the omni.

DC> I am guessing someone has done this before... would you mind
divulging
DC> the part number and supplier of the parts you used? Specifically...

DC> NEMA box to house the aPP and pigtails?

DC> SMA to bulkhead N-type pigtails?

DC> I am guessing the aPPi will work on POE outside in a NEMA box? Do
you
DC> have to take the aPPi board out of the factory box when you put it in
the
DC> NEMA box to keep it from getting too hot? (double insulation).
