We have not tried that particular configuration,
but we are using a panel antenna and an omni on one APP. We originally listened
to those that said it wouldn't work, but in desperation gave it a try. The
fluctuating signal we had going to the main access point leveled out and the
clients are no longer experiencing disconnects. We are dealing with lots of
multipath and reflections so this might not work as well if you are dealing with
pure line of sight.
Supposedly there is also a loss of throughput while
the unit searches for the correct antenna, but we have not noticed it to be a
problem in our application.
