I know some Cisco reps.. I'll start talking to them today and see what kind of discount we could get... I bet we'd do 300-500 AP's in one purchase, and I bet at that we could get them a LOT lower than the SB stuff is...

maybe we can pull together and find a replacement of another brand and get a HUG discount if we pool our money but we need to trust one person to do it all, of course they would have to split the cost of sending the units to the one location then from their would have to pay the full shipping to their location. Maybe if we order they will drop ship some at each different location which also may work..

Anyone in on doing that if we can find something? I would have to be stupid to trust someone right now but hell it cant be any worse then the situation we are in now?

I can jump in on this one - I just got back from trying to install a customer for the third time, after fixing an APPO three times, and while I was there I got 100% RSSI for a couple minutes then lost it.  I called back to the office and had a tech check all the units and the same one we fixed last night is down again.  That is three water tower climbs in 2 weeks, and one very unhappy customer that we can't get installed who was GOING to pay us $149.95 a month AND promote our business to the community.  I just called Electrocom and ordered another unit overnighted, which will cost me an arm and a leg, plus having to pay someone to climb the water tower and change it out, plus the freight charges to send the bad one back.  And we have only been operational for three week.  I agree with what you guys are saying - smartBridges has problems and if they don't address them and correct them very soon, me and plenty of other startup WISPs that are using this equipment are going to be out of business.

FedEx International Priority Reach major business centers in 24 to 48 hours 56.92
FedEx International Economy Time definite delivery in 4 to 5 business days 50.59

Who's gonna pay that?

btw.. SB... you really might want to take the "Carrier Class" off your web site... their really not with this rate of failure...  I have 2 replacements units coming in.  Why? to replace 2 brand new units (network pigtail type) that I just installed a couple of weeks ago..

My trango stuff... it's been up and running w/o that many problems.  Problems I've had with it so far:

1) Power outages
2) Power outages
3) Accidentally cut the connector off at the bottom once
4) Power outages
5) incorrectly loaded the firmware on one.  jacked into it via the serial port, and had it back up and running about 20 min later.

Now... I have a 99.996% uptime with the trango (not looking at the power outages mind you), I have almost a 72% uptime with the SB stuff...  Back before Jan 1st, I had about a 94% uptime...   yeah.. your really making improvements... yeah.. your really "Carrier Class".

I had someone come down from Canada to look at my network.  He's going to use the Trango, but he's not going to use any SB stuff.  Why?  Because in the week he was down here I had to replace 3 AP's, and 5 AB's!

In the last few months, I've already lost enough customers that would have paid, and STILL MADE MONEY, the extra for going with Cisco gear...

Here's the new TCO model for the SB stuff:

$300 - Unit Purchase
$30  - RMA ship to
$150 - Install
$50 - Truck roll
$50 - Truck roll
$50 - Truck roll
$30 - RMA ship to
$300 - Replacement unit Purchase
$45 - express ship another unit back
$30 - Ship orig unit back
$50 - Truck roll
$50 - Truck roll
$100 -Customer de-install
-----------
$1235 - total for customer paying $45/month that could never be billed cause IT NEVER WORKED more than 2 hours...

SB.. I have a dare for you... hell.. I'll quadruple dare you... come out and tell me what I'm doing wrong and make it work for more than 1 week.  $959.90 for round trip tickets from Singapore... who there has their passport up to date?

OK
Here is what smartBridges needs to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone that is still having problems with any radio, no matter which radio it is, they need to overnite one to them directly to see if this will correct the problem.  We won't know and people will keep on complaining if we can't figue this out

Like I said the other day, they need to be tripple checking these before they leave the factory.
I got a bad aBO last week that would not associate, right out of the box, I'm sure no one checked this one out
If they do not, and they do not show any initiative toward the ones having problems, they are going to start losing customers

Actuallythe majority of my crashed aBs are between 1000 1020 am PST.  Almost daily they will go down in that time frame, but most will come back up about 30 minutes later on their own.  Some need a power reset.  This ONLY happens on my new bad chipset units.

That is very interesting. I have a few that are crashing almost daily at 9:02-9:30 am EST. I am investigating the possibility of interference but I doubt very seriously that is the issue. Both radios are new from E-comm with the supposed new chipset and the newest firmware and I am having the same disassociation problems.

thats funny I run a ping log on my system when they systems go down it is 0930PT -1700PT about the same times you are describing? did the firmware or chip change lower the threshold on how much heat these things can handle??

I have 25 clients off of my repeater (aPPo in access point mode) which connects back to my head-end via an indoor airPoint.  My head-end has 24 clients plus the repeater locations (2 of them) which is 26 associated.  If you include the users on the other side of the repeaters, I have a total of 52 clients going through my head-end aPPo.

Everything was fine with my head-end until I put up one of the new (bad chipset) units.  It now will drop ALL my users are random times (normally between 10 am and 5 pm).  It only gets up to 80 degrees hereso heat shouldnt be an issue.

My repeater with 25 clients on itworks flawlessly!  It is an older aPPo with the hardwired CAT5 attached.

I notice that when I get 21-22 users and sometimes 23 is the max that seems to be able to associate to the APPO before I start seeing the dissociation problems.

Okay I give up I have 4 of the new radios I purchased with supposedly the new chi and the new firmware and they are still disassociating any wonderful ideas on what to try next.

1. I have tried everything I have tried in the past when this whole thing started so PLEASE SB don't tell me stupid stuff to check already since I know 100% it is not the installation.

2. When we went to look at the one yesterday it was thought to be heat related. We touched the ABO and it was Luke warm if at hottest. Link light (blue) was just flashing away NO association. RSSI 85% Link 95% GREAT signal and he keeps losing associating every day.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let us know what's causing this.

This customer is hooked from the radio to a D-link 4 port router to his laptop as are most all my installs..
