On the rest of my connections, which are all less than a mile, I consistently get link status of 11M, with throughput reaching the practical throughput of ~5-7Mbps.
In my opinion, WISPs are doing a disservice to the rest of us when they install a questionable link for a customer. It is not worth the bad press that the public gets about the "unreliability of wireless" when one customer has a bad experience. Not to mention that if you install a questionable connection, any profit you make in your monthly revenue is eaten with the very first service call.
The connection stats I've mentioned are with a variety of equipment out there, everything from the cheapest ebay-supplied linksys wap11 to expensive Cisco gear. The smartbridge APPro Outdoor has performed perfectly except for the recent hardware rev issue. Since replacing, tho, absolute perfection.
Our model for providing service is that we do not put up a connection unless we're absolutely positive that we will never get a call from a customer where their problem is related to packet loss. We really don't mind the junk that a lot of our competitors put up, because we just end up converting them to our service anyway. But there are plenty of fish in the see, and plenty of market for all of us.
Funny story: I had a guy call us recently; said he had one of our competitors service put in, and while they were aligning their antenna, the tech was telling the customer that he was "getting about 58% signal quality", but "I'm getting 100% from that WarpSpeed AP over there..." The customer has converted to our service a couple of months after installing the other...

I have gotten, with LINKSYS equipment, no less, 680Kbytes/sec throughput doing FTP from AP to client, at close range, from a linksys AP to linksys PC card. I haven't gotten better than mid 500's with any other equipment.

quick question how are you guys determining at what speed it is connecting at?? there is nothing that I have found in the SB product that indicates that??

Right now, Im using a 12db omni without Amp at the APP. The omni is a comet 12db -3deg downtilt.
I only get 30% RSSi with a 19db panel at 10 miles. 42% at 8miles.
It connect beetween 1 & 2Mb.
I expect to installed TT Amp or Rflinx Amp soon.
I hope this will bring my RSSI at 50% or up.

are you using any amps and or what ant are you using on the 10 mile link? What kind of throughput are you getting??

My set-up is has follow..... Don't laugh!
Internet - Mikrotik - APPO - 10miles - AB/switch/APP - - - AB/custumer - 13mils - AB/switch/APP - - - - AB /switch/APP - - - AB/custumer - 8miles - AB/switch/APP - - - - AB/custumer
the 13 miles links will be made soon. Im testing it in the shop for
1month. Both 2 other link are OK exept 1 AB I need to power cyle.every
week. Actually I did a powercycle on the first day during the burning process.
This set-up is OK for now but maybe it is wrong, Im just deploying it But only have around 10 custumer on it, I will sectorize in 3 later-on, right now it' omni
Im waiting to get fiber, so I could install more custumer. I should have it in 3 weeks !.
I do not want to leave the backhaul ABO in the feild if it is not ok !
I would like a CPE receiving the backhaul from the APP.
I don't want to pay for a access point if a CPE can do more than 64 MAC without NAT.
But if an Access point is need Then I will change them for APP. But if
I can use a CPE than I will change for a CPE.
In my book, a bridge should associate to 1 access point, & access point associate to many bridge.
I can't see why this Airbridge is designe like this. It means my custumer cannot use an accessPoint without a router.
It also mean that an Airbridge cannot support a buisness with many PC,
or MAC address.
I have 11 custumers that will have beetwen 30 & 50 PC, That make me think if the Airbridge is viable.

How is your setup like, maybe I can help you figure out the best
setup? Same as http://www.smartbridges.com/new/support/faq_ab.php#155
? You got it working? What firmware version is loaded? If working, you
should be happy, why you are afraid to deploy with airBridge?

According to smartbridges, we can't do backhaul with an airbridge.
For some reason Im testing with an Airbridge & it works !
I only hook up tree custumer with this wipop.
Apparently, Airbridge is not transparent bridge like an APP.
Why is it working ??? Im afraid to deploy with an airbridge,,,
Maybe I should look for another CPE for backhaul.
