As a test only give it a shot and see what it does for you but once again
ONLY as a test hehehe ;-)

No, I don't have the power bar all the way to the top, on either radio,
since that will put me above the FCC's stipulations.

HMM once again I might have to agree you may be out of range do you have
the
power bar all the way up on the customer unit? Is the power setting all
the
way up on your APPO as well??

There are only two other APs available. One belongs to the customer,
and the other one seems to be much weaker than mine. Also, I use
channel 1 and the other two are using channel 11.

HMM question when you go to site survey and click on choose from
available
access points are there any others listed besides yours?

One other thing to try is switching channels I spent one night going
from
1-11 and found those two great channels you may have to play around
with
them especially if there are other Access points around or near yours or
the
customer..

Sully,

Here are the answers:
1. We are not using LMR, other than the pig tail that connects to the
Outdoor Radio. We are just using the CAT5 for data and PoE.
2-3. The antenna is aligned properly, at least we like to think so.
When we mounted it we made sure to set it where the strongest signal
was. In other words we did play with the azimuth and elevation.

As you can see we have played with it in order to optimize it as much as
possible. I am running out of options and do NOT want to put an Amp.
This is a very nice customer that has a farm way out in the country
side--he has to generate his own power.

Thanks Sully, and please let me know if you have any more
ideas/suggestions.

I am going to state a few more obvious points...because with those
antennas, you should have a stronger RSSI at the client.

1. How much LMR cable (if any) are you using between the radio and the
antennas? Hopefully you are not using LMR, just CAT5.
2. Is your Sector Antenna parallel to the earth or is it mechanically
downtilted? Your RF may be falling short of the client.
3. After verifying the above, has your client antenna been properly
aligned (tweaked)?

Sorry, I'm getting forgetful in my old age. The RSSI is 35% and the LQ
is 65%.

I'm using 90deg Sector Antennas, and yes he is within the RF path of the
antenna.

Did you state somewhere what the RSSI and LQ is? With that setup, you
should be getting around 70% RSSI.

What degree sector panel are you using? Does your client lie within the
RF spread of the antenna?

Need the RSSI/LQ to give more advice.

Subject: [smartBridges] How do I improve a link?

Hi everyone,

I need your help/advice on improving a customer's connection. He is
10.5 miles away from my APPO (14.5 Sector antenna) and there is a clear
LOS. He is using an Outdoor airBridge and a 24dBi grid antenna. At
this point in time there are no amps involved, but I am seriously
considering to install one at the clients site.

Do you think that an Amp would solve the problem? Or do you have
something in your bag of tricks that I can use?

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

TIA,

-Csar
