3db loss is 1/2 signal, ie, 20dbm is 100mw, while 23dbm is 200mw. The 3db loss basically says each antenna gets half power (signal devided in half).
The 3db insersion is just a way for the manufacture to say the signal is balanced on both sides of the T.
I have a 1 to 2 T that allows one side to get 1.5 x the power
the other side gets, this is an unbalanced T, and the manufacture notes that by
showing 1.7db loss on one port, and 2.2db loss on the other port. (the losses
are never perfect on unbalanced splitters)
19db gain is twice as much
power as 16db gain. The power on the decibel scale is not linier, its
logarithmic

An RF splitter does not divide the signal to the antennas.
Each antenna gets full power with the exception of insertion loss. So a splitter
with 3dB insertion loss driving two antennas from a 17.5dB source sends 14.5dB
to each antenna. This is my understanding anyway.

Question, what happens when you plug in a 19db grid..
Does it sence the antenna and turn the 13 off? or does it act just like a
splitter only giving me half the power to the grid and the 13 is still
on?

I guess you guys
harassed us enough about the bright LEDs. So for aPXO there is a SNMP command to
turn them on/off. So you can keep them off during normal operation and turn them
on while debugging.

Nimesh what about the TOTAL's not the ap side the client side.
For aligning the antennas I mean a new versions being designed right? With
nconnector and whatever other "cosmetic" changes why not something similar even
if just led's since SB loves those "pimp" led's that set it ahead of the rest

Ok Sully, this time I will forward
your rant also J
The tone has been incorporated in Nexus. Tone can give
many more levels of indication than the LED display. I think the confusion comes
because many people are mixing up the recently announced XO series with
Nexus.
Nexus is due out in Q1
2004.

No need to forward this suggestion...it was forwarded about 11
months ago by me....and also 9 months ago by me....and once again 6 months ago
by me.
Every time it was "forwarded for development"...back burner
style.
I was told that a beep tone was going to be incorporated, and then
told that they were looking at some sort of LED display. Either way, it
sure would help with doing "better than ROUGH "alignment of the
antenna.

Hi Brian,
Yes, it is a good suggestion to determine the
RSSI level from the device itself. Your suggestion has been forwarded to our
development team for the future implemention.
Thank you

An idea for improvement I have would be to integrate a
bar-graph led system next to the other indicator lights showing RSSI level.
Would be a great help on antenna alignment.

Thanks for questioning. I think the
plan is to ship with a weatherproof cap in place. You will have to remove it to
use the N connector.

I have to ask this now...in case it was overlooked.....but, how
do you plan to waterproof the N connector should it NOT be used?
Just the
regular push on plastic dust cap wont do it.

I think there is some confusion. We have only the aBT
product for which the price reduction is being applied.
The same product
will soon have the N connector and the Surge protection/grounding circuit. The
changes are currently being introduced in the factory and the lab is doing the
new FCC certification tests. So you will start seeing these units as soon as the
stock depletes in the distribution channel.
With the price
reduction now there is only about $14 difference with aBO. So an excellent value
for getting an integrated 13db antenna. For most installs this built-in antenna
will be sufficient. For a few challenging installs you may need an external
antenna that can be connected to the N connector. This kind of flexibility makes
it easier on stocking and allows you guys to standardize on one
model.
Hope this will help with your
deployments.

It looks like we will be getting around a $40.00
reduction on the ABT price and if I am hearing right a $100.00 reduction on the
ABOT. Soon I hear the ABT units will have N connectors. I guess it will meen
less units we have to stock.

Sorry. No changes in single units price. But for larger

Yes there is a price drop for aBT. Actually quite a
substantial one for this product.
We had some confusion about the new
pricing with our distribution partners. This has been clarified now and you will
begin to see the difference in the coming
days.

Can we expect a price drop on the ABT's I hope so
would make fighting my competition A LOT EASIER I mean a 50$ or 25$ drop would
really give me and I feel others that use the product the edge to win. But right
now im equal with competitors :(

Well that
may be from the USA to the UK.
But that gear comes from Asia someplace and it
shouldn't cost more to
get to the UK from Asia.
