Consider that these should have a 512k RAM buffer it should be able to keep track of enought MAC address per port to know which port to send broadcasts on. However I am not sure how many MAC addresses it can keep in memory per port. I know some switches only support 4-12 MAC addresses per port which means when you run a larger bridged system hooked up to one port it sees to many MAC addresses and when there is traffic to a MAC address that is not in memory it will broadcast it to ALL ports which means you can get a broadcast storm.
The only way to guarantee yourself against this is (drumroll please) to put in a router.. =) Best regards, Eje "Aya" Gustafsson mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] The Family Entertainment Network http://www.fament.com Phone : 620-231-7777 Fax : 240-376-7272 - Your Full Time Professionals - Online Store http://www.wisp-router.com/ MikroTik, Star-OS, PACWireless, EnGenius, RF Industries -- JC> I am looking for something to put in between 2 appo to stop broadcast storms JC> and anything else like that.
