I have always wanted simpleNMS to be able to sort the manual entries by function and location so I came up with this hack. Open ManualEntries.txt in the simpleNMS directory. Place the entries in any grouping order you find usefull and add new lines with group names in all caps to distinguish them from entries. Example:
INFRASTRUCTURE mainAP (IP : 192.168.1.1) waterTowerAP (IP : 192.168.2.2) LOCAL CLIENTS Jsmith (IP : 192.168.3.3) Fred (IP : 192.168.4.4) PODUNKVILLE Goober (IP : 192.168.5.5) You can add empty lines to help define your groups, they have no effect on the program. You can also set the name to anything you want, it does not have to match the actual name of the device. The order of the manual entries does not have to match the order of the password entries in the password file. The only down side is that the group name lines will show up as having a wrong password in NMS, but even that is usefull to have a yellow line dividing groups in the bottom window.
