urhm.. WRONG.. FCC allows 30dB maximum RADIO output into a 6dB antenna.. This equals to 36. Then also for each dB lower radio power you are allowed 1 dB higher antenna gain so that means you can use a 16dB antenna with a 100mW (20dB) radio to achieve 36dB..
36dB total power for point to multipoint.. Keep that in mind 36dB.. Then in ptp (which a client is considered according to the FCC) you are allowed 48dB. 30dB max radio gain but for every 1dB you lower the radio gain you can increase the antenna gain with 3dB. So 24dB radio means you have lowered the output on the radio with 6dB which means you are allowed to increase the 6dB antenna with 6*3=18dB gain for a total of 24dB antenna gain. So think this.. AP = 36dB, CPE = 48dB Best regards, Eje "Aya" Gustafsson mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] The Family Entertainment Network http://www.fament.com Phone : 620-231-7777 Fax : 240-376-7272 - Your Full Time Professionals - Online Store http://www.wisp-router.com/ MikroTik, Star-OS, PACWireless, EnGenius, RF Industries -- SA> Joe / Kevin, SA> Just a question for you guys since I don't have the same SA> issues you may and haven't used any amps (yet?): Assuming you use SA> a 13 dBi antenna with the 17 dB output power of the sb radios, SA> you're at 30 dB -the max allowed by the FCC. Now if sb ups the SA> power (dumb question coming up in 3, 2, 1...) won't you be out of SA> FCC regulations?
