I was thinking that because the data is already checksummed at the host level, turning checksumming off inside the guest wouldn’t really do any harm. Unless ZFS itself would somehow garble the data when writing, which shouldn’t happen. I can see that it’s probably not worth the risk if it’s unknown territory.
