It would be worth trace-routing pkgsrc.joyent.com and also attempting to test TCP connectivity. Something like
$ telnet pkgsrc.joyent.com 80 Which should yield something similar to: Trying 165.225.149.45... Connected to pkgsrc.joyent.com. Escape character is '^]'. ^] telnet> As Ian mentioned, curl/wget are other things to check. It could be depending on your network configuration that ICMP gets out fine but other packet types don’t. - Dave > On 6 Aug 2015, at 9:53 AM, Steve <[email protected]> wrote: > > On 08/05/2015 06:12 PM, Robert Mustacchi wrote: >> On 8/5/15 14:00 , Steve wrote: >>> Hi, >>> >>> I'm building a FIFO setup and on this step it cannot find the pkg summary: >>> >>> pkgin: Could not fetch >>> http://pkgsrc.joyent.com/packages/SmartOS/2015Q1/x86_64/All/pkg_summary.gz >> >> It sounds like your networking is not configured properly.
