FWIW, Joyent uses GEOIP services on it's load balancers, so if you got pointed to the EU pkgsrc and live on the west coast of the US, something is wrong with the GEOIP from your Internet provider.
There are 3 pkgsrc servers, West, East and AMS(EU), in theory you should be provided the IP of the closest pkgsrc server cluster. As previously stated, source and destination IPs would be helpful.
