As an experimental platform, I’ve installed VMware ESXi 5.5.0 U1 on a server with a Supermicro X8DTH-iF motherboard and two LSI 2008 controllers. Among other things, I want to virtualize SmartOS on the ESXi hypervisor. The LSI controllers are passed directly to SmartOS, and appear to work as expected. What I haven’t figured out is the networking.
Ideally, I’d like to have maximum network throughput between the ESXi guest OS’s. I gather that the best performance should be using a VMXNET3 interface on all ESXi guests. The standard SmartOS VMware platform image doesn’t seem to include support for VMXNET3. Can I install VMware’s Solaris drivers into SmartOS? Is there a tutorial that might help with this? I’m a bit out of my depth here, which is the point - this is meant to be a learning experience. Thanks for any suggestions. :-) Best, Chris ------------------------------------------- smartos-discuss Archives: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/184463/=now RSS Feed: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/rss/184463/25769125-55cfbc00 Modify Your Subscription: https://www.listbox.com/member/?member_id=25769125&id_secret=25769125-7688e9fb Powered by Listbox: http://www.listbox.com
