I'm a SmartOS newbie who is trying to figure out what might be
interfering with pkgin behavior.
I can "pkgin -y install nano" and everything works as expected. But if I
"pkgin -y install nginx-1.6.0", I see the following:
calculating dependencies... done.
nothing to upgrade.
2 packages to be installed: perl-5.20.0nb2 nginx-1.6.0 (16M to download, 61M to
install)
downloading packages...
where it sits... and sits.... and sits. If I fire up a snoop session, I
can see some HTTP activity and some error-responses to DNS requests. But
after a few hours, it is still sitting and I still don't have nginx
installed.
I'm able to get the packages with wget in less than a second
wget http://pkgsrc.joyent.com/packages/SmartOS/2014Q2/x86_64/All/nginx-1.6.0.tgz
so what is the hangup with pkgin? Any tips on where to look would be
appreciated. Alternatively, is there an easy syntax for pkgin by which I
can just wget the tgz files and point pkgin at them in my local filesystem?
(By way of disclosure, I am a two-day-old SmartOS newbie but I'm pretty
comfortable with Solaris 10, zones, zfs, and pkgutil.)
