I can tell you that with SmartOS released a few months ago, I lost a zpool
on one of my test machines.  It had a single Samsung 840pro in it.  The 840
died and the zpool disappeared.  I found a good howto on the FreeNAS forums
that I used to rebuild the pool so I could remove the slog and get the box
back up.  It's not the end of the world, but a bit of a pain in the arse.
Certainly not something you would want to happen on a production machine.
