What about docker support ? since the lx zones don’t support Docker as a host (which is quite sad actually) the way to support docker is using SDC to host docker containers in individual zones each (other than running kvm zones again, which would have serious overhead) Is docker really only supported with the SDC ? -matthias

With the pure open source offering, you get an Administrator portal that allows for the provisioning of instances and the general operational maintenance of the cluster. However, there are only a few per-user limits available and it is generally intended for administrators. If you go the route of buying enterprise support for SmartDataCenter, you can get the portal that is used in the Joyent public cloud on premise. I think that this is a very good self-service portal if you can afford it. There is also this project for providing an open source UI for SmartDataCenter: https://faithlife.com/sdc-portal/activity Thanks, Elijah On Fri, Jan 8, 2016 at 7:13 PM, Jon Dison <[email protected]> wrote: I'm getting ready to spin up a development instance of SmartOS and I need to have a user-friendly GUI for some of the less technical people on staff. What can you tell me about the differences between Project-FiFo and SmartDataCenter as far as its GUI, particularly as it pertains to a non-technical person's ability to provision new VMs. Thanks, Jon -- -Elijah smartos-discuss | Archives | Modify Your Subscription ------------------------------------------- smartos-discuss Archives: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/184463/=now RSS Feed: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/rss/184463/25769125-55cfbc00 Modify Your Subscription: https://www.listbox.com/member/?member_id=25769125&id_secret=25769125-7688e9fb Powered by Listbox: http://www.listbox.com
