Thank you for your prompt reply Jorge. I assume that you are meaning what you wrote in your blog post from March 22nd, 2015. I just don't see how doing this helps me. My VM has pkgsrc preinstalled so if I reprovision won't it still have the same pkgsrc and surely I'll be in the same situation?

Do note that this wipes all your data and config that is not in a delegated dataset! It takes some getting used to, for now I use a user-script to rebuild my zone and have my data on a dataset and it works great.
