I've been having plenty of grief installing SmartOS on an Intel NUC (6i7kyk). There are two problems: USB3 means I can't connect a keyboard; and onboard PCIe M.2 SSD's (and no SATA).

I'm trying to get over the first by installing to disk on a "known good" machine then moving the disk over to the machine that won't recognise a keyboard. However, in the process of doing this I appear to have found a whole bunch of things that are not "primary storage" including mounting the SSD into a PCIe carrier and installing onto it using said "known good" machine. I'm a little defeated as to what primary storage is if this is not it. I did some messing around in the BIOS but found nothing of use.

Does anyone have any insight into how I might persuade this SSD to be regarded as primary storage? Or is this a SATA only thing and I plain, simple just have the wrong machine and it's not going to work?

Cheers,

Dave
