Might as well shoot off an email with whatever diagnostic messages you have and the version of SmartOS you’re running. While no guarantees someone will be able to help, it can’t hurt either.

I'm attempting to locate a 16 port model that will work with stock SmartOS, and rather than iterating through every model on the market, I decided to ask here. What model works? I can report that the Startech.com 16 port model attempts to come up, and it finds 4 of the 16 ports, with non-detection on 5 of the ports, and failure messages on the last 7, using the usbftdi driver. In my untrained eye, it appears that this device is effectively a chain of usb hubs with ftdi devices hanging off them. I have this environment right now, and can provide debugging if there's a desire. Similar devices with 8 or more ports would also be interesting to me. 16 ports exactly is not a requirement. I understand that this is probably a more generic Illumos question, however I'm specifically targeting a SmartOS platform for the rest of the work this computer is doing. I find evidence that Solaris had support for quite a few devices including the Edgeport series, but as per https://www.illumos.org/issues/36 that was a closed source driver. Pointers to functional devices greatly appreciated. *smartos-discuss* | Archives <https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/184463/=now> <https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/rss/184463/28937248-5f745c54> | Modify <https://www.listbox.com/member/?&> Your Subscription <http://www.listbox.com> ------------------------------------------- smartos-discuss Archives: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/184463/=now RSS Feed: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/rss/184463/25769125-55cfbc00 Modify Your Subscription: https://www.listbox.com/member/?member_id=25769125&id_secret=25769125-7688e9fb Powered by Listbox: http://www.listbox.com
