Hi All,

In the last week or so, we have had two host 'freezes' - both hosts running
image SmartOS 20160330T234717Z, and running fine (up until this point) for
well over a year.

Both host servers required a power down and power up, and have been bought
up using the following image - 20161013T025521Z - purely because all our
other hosts are running this image and we haven't tested anything more
recent than that in our environment.

My questions are:

1. What is considered best practice in respect of which image build to
put onto operational hosts?
2. If the response (as I expect) is for the most recent released build,
what is considered a 'reasonable' time frame to wait after a build is
released until it is considered operationally stable?
3. What 'testing' procedures (if any) are considered best practice
before a 'stable' build is deployed in an operational environment?
4. How frequently does it make sense to boot hosts into a 'current'
build or do you leave hosts running older builds until they either require a
reboot (for whatever reason), or hosts are end-of-life'd?

Thanks and regards,

Angelo.
