Yes, you can. Triton is designed for a more deterministic and holistic management approach (i.e., you *can* make instances with dhcp, but triton doesn't make that easy), before I ran Triton at home I used dhcp on all of my instances with my stand alone SmartOS servers.
My templates for creating instances are here: https://github.com/bahamat/smartos-flair/tree/master/templates <https://github.com/bahamat/smartos-flair/tree/master/templates> I still use these for testing SmartOS, so they all still work even though they haven't been modified recently. -- Brian Bennett Systems Engineer, Cloud Operations Joyent, Inc. | www.joyent.com <http://www.joyent.com/> > On Nov 3, 2017, at 6:56 AM, Lonnie Cumberland <[email protected]> wrote: > > Greetings All, > > Since my recent entry into the world of Illumos and in particular, SmartOS > which I REALLY think is awesome by the way, I an playing around with > different zone implementations and running a few VMs which led to a question. > > I am wondering if an internal NAT can be setup to provide to provide DHCP, > DNS, etc.. to dynamic zone VMs and wanted to ask the community what thoughts > and experiences you have on this? > > I started looking at pfsense and VyOS as possible off-the-shelf solutions and > am exploring this possibility. > > On a side note, the test bed network is a cable modem NAT for a local LAN of > which I have some physical machines.
