Awesome. Your hypothesis was right. I have done some tests under
virtualbox and yes, if you don't specify a netmask for the admin IP,
SmartOS will configure the interface as DHCP.

I have changed my production configuration and I am waiting a window to
reboot the machine. It will take a few weeks, thought. Patience.

That said, I still don't know what "compute_node_ntp_hosts=dhcp" in
"/usbkey/config" means. Any hint?
