Hi,
that was a type from me
the thing is no matter how we do it it always create a vnic on top of the ixgbe0 interface and that is not something we want.
Or is that maybe an other way to have a vnic but with a certain MAC address ?
What is the syntax then if this is possible

this is what is in the config file
external_nic=ac:1f:6b:10:f4:62
external_vlan_id=
external_ip=<Ipaddrss>
external_netmask=255.255.255.0
external_network=<Ipaddress.0>

But still its creating a vnic called external0
and this is not what we want we just want to have that ipaddress bind to ixgbe0

We need to get that ip address on to the ixgbe0 interface directly.
So how can we do this with the /usbkey/config file ?

Have you tried specifying nictag in the /usbkey/config with 'external_nic=' and omitting 'external0_mac=' line:

external_nic=<mac_address>
external_ip=<ip_address>
...
