Hello gents, I am using SmartOS on a pair of Intel based servers. Great and reliable system. I don't pretend to be an O/S coder, but realize that determining if the problem even affects SmartOS is the first place to start.
So, my questions: 1) Is SmartOS even affected by Meltdown on Intel cores or Spectre on AMD Cores? 2) If the problem does affect SmartOS, it does seem rather minor for servers where few users are able to login and load software, correct? What I mean is, I know a fix will be tough, and unlikely to arrive soon, but ... if we keep to safe practices, we should be able to weather this storm, correct? thanks for the fantastic O/S as always!
