What a boot loader has to do with GSM firmware? Nothing about that (and the kernel as well) is present in the Openmoko wiki at http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/GSM/Flashing OTOH, soon after I upgraded my GTA02 to the moko11 firmware, I experienced GSM connection problems with frameworkd: --8<---------------cut here---------------start------------->8--- 2009.05.25 01:54:58 frameworkd.resource INFO setting resource status for GSM from disabled to enabling 2009.05.25 01:54:58 ogsmd.channel INFO <CallChannel via unknown>: Creating channel with timeout = 3600 seconds 2009.05.25 01:54:58 ogsmd.channel INFO <UnsolicitedResponseChannel via unknown>: Creating channel with timeout = 10 seconds 2009.05.25 01:54:59 ogsmd.channel INFO <MiscChannel via unknown>: Creating channel with timeout = 10 seconds Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.5/framework/subsystems/ogsmd/modems/abstract/modem.py", line 299, in _initChannels if not self._channels[channel].open(): File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.5/framework/subsystems/ogsmd/gsm/channel.py", line 76, in open path = self.pathfactory( self.name ) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.5/framework/subsystems/ogsmd/modems/ti_calypso/modem.py", line 85, in pathfactory return str( muxer.AllocChannel( name, dbus_interface="org.freesmartphone.GSM.MUX" ) ) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.5/dbus/proxies.py", line 68, in __call__ return self._proxy_method(*args, **keywords) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.5/dbus/proxies.py", line 140, in __call__ **keywords) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.5/dbus/connection.py", line 622, in call_blocking message, timeout) dbus.exceptions.DBusException: org.freesmartphone.GSM.MUX.NoChannel: All channels are used --8<---------------cut here---------------end--------------->8--- Since I have a GTA01 as well, I did not investigate the causes for the problem above. I remember that once GSM worked, but then it stopped again for whatever reason. Now I am back to my GTA02 and while I do not get anymore the error above it seems I experience D-Bus timeout errors: ===== debian-gta02:~# ps -C frameworkd PID TTY TIME CMD 1588 ? 00:00:23 frameworkd debian-gta02:~# mdbus Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/bin/mdbus", line 380, in <module> c = Commands( bus ) File "/usr/bin/mdbus", line 174, in __init__ self.bus = bus() File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.5/dbus/_dbus.py", line 219, in __new__ mainloop=mainloop) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.5/dbus/_dbus.py", line 108, in __new__ bus = BusConnection.__new__(subclass, bus_type, mainloop=mainloop) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.5/dbus/bus.py", line 125, in __new__ bus = cls._new_for_bus(address_or_type, mainloop=mainloop) dbus.exceptions.DBusException: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.Spawn.ExecFailed: dbus-launch failed to \ autolaunch D-Bus session: Autolaunch error: X11 initialization failed. debian-gta02:~# DISPLAY=:0.0 mdbus :1.0 :1.3 org.enlightenment.wm.service org.freedesktop.DBus debian-gta02:~# DISPLAY=:0.0 zhone [...] gsm ok: <Interface <ProxyObject wrapping <dbus._dbus.SystemBus (system) at 0x4035d0f0> \ :1.9 /org/freesmartphone/GSM/Device at 0x40363030> implementing 'org.freesmartphone.GSM.Network' at 0x40363150> [...] failcount = 0 dbus_objectInitOK! Does anyone experience similar problems? Michael, should I file a bug for that? I have just started a new installation on a 512MB SanDisk microSD card, just to be sure that the above is a real bug and not due to my 4GB SanDisk microSDHC card getting screwed or to all my tests with that Debian installation. Thx, bye, Gismo / Luca
