  Best practice for a servicable system is to use a dedicated dump
  device, and has been since Solaris 8.  In terms of adjusting such
  practice, I would expect changes to the virtual memory subsystem would
  in turn affect dump behaviour in the future (if not changes in
  the hardware itself).
