I've only taken a first quick read of the proposal so far, but have a meta-comment... I'm a bit confused why you're starting with inetd. It seems like many of the services you'd want most to advertize (e.g. nfs, printing, to name two) are not managed by inetd by default. It doesn't seem like advertizing telnet capabilities on the network is one of the high-value services to tell potential consumers on the network about. Have you created a list of the bundled (or unbundled) Solaris services we'd want to advertize out of the box (if they're enabled), along with the priority of advertizing that service?
