For diagnosing individual faults, yes, I couldn't agree more. I'm thinking along the lines of "system didn't come up cleanly, what was the damage?" and being able to see a single collection of output from all of the services, making it easy to see what did or didn't work, what happened when in relation to everything else over time, etc. Maybe this would a start would be an addition to the svclog script that is being developed - have an option to say "show me only the log content since the last boot"?
