One line per file directory should be fine - even if it's only "reserved
for future use"

Forget about the question I thought about the discussion from this thread:

private data in SMF repository

Mmm, backup is always important for machines in production and AFAIK
there is no official supported solution right now to manually create a
backup of the repository.

No burning need, but at least the info that there's no supported
solution to manually backup the repository at this time should be
mentioned in the FAQ

 From the FAQ:

*3.12 Why is network/physical hanging?*
svc:/network/physical:default is using ifconfig, which tries to do a
name-service lookup to get the netmasks for the interfaces. If
nis/client is running, then ypbind will hang, since there are no
physical interfaces.

Reading this I ask myself: What should I do if I encounter this
situation? Kill ypbind? Or does "hang" mean it's only temporary hanging
until a timeout occurs?

And the next question is : Is this a temporary bug and will it be fixed
in a new release or patch?

I can't test it because I do not have an environment with a NIS server.

Sure

You can not expect that the start or stop method of an application is
finished after "svcadm disable" or "svcadm enable" returns (without the
parameter -s).

In the old days you could start your application with the init script
and in general after the init script finished your application should be
up and runnning.

It's a matter of taste what one expects from a GUI so IMHO a list with
the existing GUIs should be enough.

My FAQ only for historical purpose 'cause I do not plan to maintain it
now that the "real" FAQ is there.

Liane's Blog : yes, of course and other blogs with infos about SMF.
And the SMF pages on BigAdmin and other Sun websites and man pages also.

This should be a "living" list that should be updated by the SMF team
for example if they add a blog entry about an SMF feature.

Now for example you must manually search BigAdmin or blogs.sun.com to
find new articles about SMF.
