It's the result of reading all those presentation slides that make the analogy between milestones and run-levels. I just automatically assume that milestones progress. I manned a few smf manpages to find out if the doc address this, (that milestones don't progress). Haven't found it. It probably should be explicitly written somewhere. Up until now, that's how I think of milestones. I'd imagine slews of SMF users out there think that way too. CT
