last time I had something sent from the US - repair on my etymotic headphones, I ended up paying a small fortune. It was picked out for a check, and despite clearly being marked 'repair - cost $40', I had to prove I owned them already and DHL or whichever courier it was added extra charges, it ended up more than doubling the cost.
