I suspect implementation is very much harder than it looks. For 
instance, a tiny error (network interruption?) would much more 
easily corrupt the entire vault. I should think that TM does a 
fair bit of checking and dumps anything it suspects and collects 
again. You would not notice with a 53k text file, but with a 53 
gig one...!
