Gilly,

you don't need to use Acrobat to do this.

Open one of the PDF's using the Preview application, then open the  
Preview sidebar which will reveal a thumbnail of the PDF.
Drag the icons for the other PDF pages from the Finder into this  
Sidebar window.
When you save the document you will have a new PDF with all the extra  
pages added.
You can also drag the pages into the correct order in the sidebar.
