I use http://www.birthdayalarm.com and am very happy with them. You are reminded of forthcoming birthdays about a week beforehand (or however long you set it for), and even the age of the person concerned. They also have excellent e-cards which can be personalised, and they send them on the date you stipulate. I can't remember what it costs (two annual charges: one for the alarm and one for unlimited cards), but it's not very much - and worth every cent! By the way, it's Sam's birthday today!
