Dear SMUGs,

I've been using an Airport Express Base Station for a couple of years to
provide a WiFi connection principally for an early Intel MacBook. Every so
often the MacBook fails to see the Base Station (although it does not seem
to have any trouble locating my neighbours). I appear to have fixed the
problem this time round with a paperclip for a soft reset. So far so good
but the MacBook is being invited to join the Base Station network as an
'open network'. The MacBook has remembered the password intermitently in the
past and family i-Phones never seem to forget once they have used the
password but I want to be sure my network is secure.

My question is how can I check whether access to my Base Station is still
password protected and if not how do I set it up for password security
again? The Apple support sites talk about using the set up utility but I
don't want to set it all up again as I fear it will cause more problems with
the MacBook's tendency to AirPort blindness.

Thanks in anticipation of your help.

Malcolm
