Before pointing a finger at the hardware, it's important to be 100%  
certain that it's not just a software issue. Try creating a separate  
user login to see if you get the same problem when logged in as a  
different/new user. If that doesn't make any difference then try  
booting from an external drive with a freshly installed OS.
