Virginia,

In the Settings area of the Google Mail website (after you have logged in to
your mail account) select the ³Forwarding and POP/IMAP² tab, then in the
³POP Download² settings - select the radio button for ³Enable POP for mail
that arrives from now on²

Help!  I have 989 messages in the mailbox and they are still coming. I
thought that with my new MacBook Pro I would try out Mail program instead of
going to gmail through safari so added gmail to mailboxes.  But Mail has
started to download all my emails from the past 6 years as unread.  989 so
far and the! are only up to 2006!   How do I stop it doing this?   How do I
get rid of them?    If I select all and then delete, it copies them!   I can
then erase all, but it is a real  pain.   It would be good to use Mail
because of it being on dashboard and immediately showng number of emails
waiting to be read.I hate the thought of all these email clogging up my new
hard disk.
