Virginia, In the Settings area of the Google Mail website (after you have logged in to your mail account) select the ³Forwarding and POP/IMAP² tab, then in the ³POP Download² settings - select the radio button for ³Enable POP for mail that arrives from now on²

I have 989 messages in the mailbox and they are still coming. I thought that with my new MacBook Pro I would try out Mail program instead of going to gmail through safari so added gmail to mailboxes. But Mail has started to download all my emails from the past 6 years as unread. 989 so far and the! are only up to 2006! How do I stop it doing this? How do I get rid of them? If I select all and then delete, it copies them! I can then erase all, but it is a real pain.
