Hi again, I just removed the 'HP IO Classic Proxy' which was an item in my Login Items listing (for my old HP printer which I no longer use). I needed to remove it when logged in as Admin user as nothing happened when I tried it as 'me'.
However, weird things are now happening when I log in as Admin: launching Calculator, System Preferences & Activity Monitor makes them launch but hang without displaying a window. I have to Force Quit them. The Console just bounces for ages and appears not to launch but is actually running in the background because OS X has to Force Quit it to log out! Also, the Finder seem to be OK until I attempt to change the current folder in a folder window at which point there's the rainbow wheel and I have to relaunch it. Now, I admit I've not been in as Admin user since installing OS X 10.6, except to run Software Update and install the latest software, so this may have been going on for some time. However, even as Admin the following, at least, run fine: Disk Utility, FontBook, Software Update, Keychain, Terminal, Safari and Automator and probably more. All of the problem Admin applications open just fine when I login and run as Stephen which is my usual non-privileged user login. Does anyone have any idea what on earth is going on and how I can fix it? Here's hoping, Thanks in advance, Stephen The transport secretary Ruth Kelly promised that “if we need to adjust policy in the light of new evidence, we will.”(8) What new evidence does she require? In the midst of a global humanitarian crisis, we have just become legally obliged to use food as fuel. It is a crime against humanity in which every driver in this country has been forced to participate. - George Monbiot, April 2008 --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Sussex Mac User Group" group.
