Those bugs only affect a minute number of people, you'll be fine as long as you've got a full Time Machine backup. You can restore any lost data in the event of something going wrong, just make sure you don't have your backup drive connected while installing 10.6. It's certainly a worthwhile upgrade for the speed boost alone.
