Hi everybody, I think I have done a stupid thing! Somehow in my thrashings about with mouse and keyboard on my iMac G5, I obtained another System Preferences icon on my desktop. I left it as it wasn't in the way, I could always remove it if I needed the space. That time came a couple of weeks ago. I went to delete the icon on the desk top and it wouldn't delete, but then it asked me for my password, strange I thought, but typed it in. It then asked me if I was sure I wanted to delete, I said yes and bingo it went from my desk top. (I thought that's OK I still have the one in the dock) and emptied the trash. On trying to access System Preferences from the icon in the dock nothing happens. When clicked, the icon says, open, show in finder etc. But it won't open! Have I deleted System Preferences permanently from my computer? Any help you can offer to a non technical grumpy old man would be welcome. (Sorry to have gone on a bit but I wanted to pass on as full a storey as possible) The computer still works and seems to go to sleep etc with the settings that were last set in System Preferences. (I think) Peter.
